March – Artur Sasot

Congratulations Artur our “Warrior Spirit” award winner for March!

Artur completed the 10 week challenge in March 2020 and his Self-Assessment results speak for themselves! He improved his stride length and walking speed in all walking variables, he improved his dual tasking ability and he added a whopping 172 metres to his 6 minute walk test distance!
Artur is currently doing 3-4 hours of exercise per day which consists of:

  • 1 hour walking, nordic walking or gym
  • 1 hour of yoga
  • 1 hour of PD Warrior
  • 30 minutes cycling

And on top of all that on occasion he adds in 1 hour of “Just Dance” with his kids!

I was also very proud to hear that Artur’s best “WOW” moment so far was finding the PD Warrior program!

Keep up the amazing work Artur! You are inspirational to us all!”

Looking back, some indicators of PD had been there for maybe up to two years before my diagnosis in April 2019. Principally my hand writing (I am R hand dominant) was becoming more and more laboured. Some eight months earlier I had decided to learn the violin, so the clincher became that I could not bow smoothly with my right arm, which became increasingly frustrating for me and my teacher. My father was afflicted with Parkinson’s late in his life, so all added up, the diagnosis was just a confirmation of what I already suspected.

April – Jan Doyle

THE WARRIOR SPIRIT AWARD FOR APRIL GOES TO THE “STEP MACHINE” – Jan Doyle!
Jan’s current exercise/activity routine consists of:

Back exercises in the morning to alleviate stiffness
1 hour walk after morning medication
After the walk Jan runs through her PD Warrior exercises which include a combination of core exercises, 10 week challenge exercises and the new online group classes.
Jan also likes to spend time gardening which she finds to be good exercise for the body and mind…

Tribe 365 Community Guidelines

Overview

The goal of the Tribe 365 community is to share relevant Parkinson’s Disease information and resources, and support fellow members through the highs and lows of their journey with Parkinson’s Disease.

  • Be tolerant towards other’s viewpoints; respectfully disagree when opinions do not align

Please do not:

  • Sell or promote any products or services without the administrator’s prior permission
  • Make personal attacks on other community members
  • Use defamatory remarks or make false statements against others
  • Post prejudiced comments or profanity
  • Bully or make inflammatory remarks to other community members

Consequences:
We will take action when we see someone violating these guidelines. We request that all community members report behaviour that violates our guidelines to a member of the PD Warrior Team.
