Movement Complexity and Falls

Prof. Thurmon Lockhart

Dr. Thurmon Lockhart is currently the MORE Foundation Professor of Life in Motion in the School of Biological Health and Systems Engineering at Arizona State University.  Professor Lockhart is internationally known for his expertise in biomechanics and motor control associated with falls.  His research examines the mechanisms of sensorimotor deficits and movement disorders associated with aging and neurological disorders on fall accidents utilizing nonlinear dynamics and theory of Chaos.

Dr. Lockhart has translated research findings into practice by reaching a significant number of external organizations and individuals.  His outreach efforts have impacted several organizations including the UPS, Diageo, Los Alamos National Security, DOE, GE, BP, SnapOn Tools and the US Navy.  In recognition of these scientific achievements, Dr. Lockhart and co-workers were awarded the Alexander C. Williams, Jr., Design Award from the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society in 2008.  His research was recently featured on the PBS NOVA ScienceNow and Good Morning America programs, Fortune, AgingWell, Men’s Health and Discover magazines.

The goal of the Tribe 365 community is to share relevant Parkinson’s Disease information and resources, and support fellow members through the highs and lows of their journey with Parkinson’s Disease.

In order to meet the goals of this community, it’s important for members to feel like they are in a safe place that is populated by people with shared interests. As such, we request that you read and adhere to the guidelines that follow.


  • Respect the privacy and personal information of other members
  • Communicate with courtesy and respect
  • Treat others online as you would treat them in real life
  • Be tolerant towards other’s viewpoints; respectfully disagree when opinions do not align

Please do not:

  • Sell or promote any products or services without the administrator’s prior permission
  • Make personal attacks on other community members
  • Use defamatory remarks or make false statements against others
  • Post prejudiced comments or profanity
  • Bully or make inflammatory remarks to other community members

We will take action when we see someone violating these guidelines. We request that all community members report behaviour that violates our guidelines to a member of the PD Warrior Team.
